Polished Stone

September 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This was one of my technique card swaps for convention this year.

The technique is Polished Stone, instructions can be found at splitcoaststampers.com here

The cardstock colours I used are Night of Navy, Brocade Blue and Bordering Blue. The polished stone technique was on glossy white cardstock. Reinkers were the same with the addition of silver and the greeting was embossed in silver. Stamp sets are wonderful words and Lovely as a Tree.

I was thinking after I made it that it would be a great christmas card.

My Hostess Gift swap for convention, this is an altoid tin decorated with cardstock and ribbon.

I made four mini cards to fit inside using the Pun Fun, Sprinkles and Simply Said stamp sets. Cardstock colours are Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Real Red and Certainly Celery.

Made a lot of use of my punches! They turned out really cute, I want to try to make enevlopes for the cards now then it will be the perfect gift for anyone.

Zoofari Waterfall

September 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This was my other WOW swap for convention. Waterfall cards are great fun to make and I love the Zoofari set. I will again endeavor to get instructions up but they can be found at splicoaststamper.com in the resources area Waterfall Card

Colours for cardstock and ink are Close to Cocoa, Rose Red, So Saffron, Perfect Plum and Old Olive. Neutral cardstock is Very Vanilla. Stamp sets are Zoofari, Sprinkles and Curvy Verses.

I used jumbo eyelets to hold the cocoa strip down to make sure it was secure, I thought it may fall off during trvael if I just taped it. I also fixed the ribbon down with a small eyelet as I wasn`t sure it would stay put if I just looped it through. Turned out really well though so I will probably make them like this in future.

Double Slider

September 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This was the card I made for one of my convention WOW swaps.

It is a double slider card instructions for which I will post at a later date, but for now you can find the at splitcoaststampers.com in the resources area Double Slider Card

The stamp sets are Doodle This and Curvy Verses. Cardstock and ink colours are Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral and So Saffron. The large flowers are stamped in black directly onto the cardstock and then cut out, then all held together with a Fire Rhinestone Brad.

This is a fun card to have a go at, but time consuming – as I found out when I had to make 10 5 days before I left for convention!. Definately a great Technique Class card though. Movement cards are always satisfying when you have finished them.

Convention Swap

September 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This was the card that I took to convention with me for my general swap. I used the Wonderful You set with the matching wheel. The cardstock is Always Artichoke and Old Olive as are the inks. The ribbon is the 5/8″ Old Olve Grosgrain.

Wow shows how far behind I am with this blogging lark, just getting my convention swaps up now!!

I have also used this card at a class using Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa and Very Vanilla using the flower image from the same set.

It really is quite hard to make a bad card with this stamp set!

Uspy Daisy

September 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Upsy Daisy is one of the stamp sets on offer from Stampin’ Up! at the moment.

This is a card I designed for a recent demonstrator meeting. It is made with the Top Note die and the Big Shot. SU! has partnered with Sizzix so we now have an exclusive range of sizzix dies available from Stampin’ Up!.

Upsy Daisy image was first sponged daubered with more mustard and really rust inks and then stamped on to the top note. It creates a great two tone effect. This technique can be done with any solid image stamp, so get creative!

Saffron and Chocolate Giraffe

September 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This was a popular class card.

First stamp the giraffe onto very vanilla cardstock with so saffron and then punch out the holes using a 1/16″ and a 1/8″ circle punch. Then when you layer onto the choclate chip cardstock the colour shows through the holes. A lot easier than colouring in neatly!!!

The background is done with the “See you around” jumbo wheel, just roll the wheel onto the so saffron ink pad and then roll the images onto the sosaffron cardstock.

The silver ribbon slider is from the new silver finish hodgepodge, just something different to the normal knot or bow. The ticket corner punch always adds that little something!
